How it Works

What is Crowdfunding?

Crowdfunding is a way of raising finance by asking a large number of people each for a small amount of money. Until recently, financing a project involved asking a few people for large sums of money. Crowdfunding switches this idea around, using the internet to talk to hundreds – if not thousands – of potential funders.

Typically, those seeking funds will set up a profile of their project on a website such as Fundraise.it. They can then use social media, alongside traditional networks of friends, family and work aquaintances, to raise money.

How can Fundraise.it Help?

Fundraise.it is a new crowdfunding website specifically for UK schools to raise money for their fundraising projects.

Schools with a Fundraising idea can list and accept donations for their fundraising project via the Fundraise.it website. Once listed, schools can use the Fundraise.it website to promote their project via their online networks. This can be done via Twitter, Facebook, email or by simply telling their potential supporters the projects website address.

Once your project is funded, we’ll transfer the money to your school.

The Process

We make listing your fundraising project and raising funds easy and straightforward.

Sign-up as a Fundraise.it member and use our "create project" template to describe your idea. We’ll review it and if anything’s not clear, we’ll email you with questions. We’re here to help you get your fundraising project in the very best shape. Once we all agree that your project is working as well as possible, your project will go live on the site for supporters to see.
